How to shape a proactive culture within an organisation?

Enabling one’s organisation to be perceived as a safe place by everyone is one of the most important things a CEO should do.

Although I am the founder and CEO of Foxwin, I have never felt like the boss of anyone. I want and need to have people around me who think independently, understand critical issues, bring ideas, manage themselves, make decisions, assess risks and prevent them; I need people who care and believe in what we are doing.

That is why we have linked the evolutionary aims of the organisation with the individual ones.
My task in meetings such as the purpose-related one, but also in my daily life at work, is to value when colleagues show themselves to others, to thank them for their contribution, to be genuinely curious and interested in them as human beings and not just as employees. I also have to be very careful to prevent bad habits, such as people who ignore feelings, or people who go straight to work without having human contact with colleagues.

It is important for us both to create good practices and to maintain them over time. Only in this way can everyone become an example and inspiration for others.

The organisational culture is shaped by the founders and leaders within an organisation

Employees look at which behaviours are rewarded and which are punished, and then act accordingly. So it is vital to create a place where people can show their emotions, can talk about their life purpose and can reassure themselves that colleagues appreciate this approach.

Keeping that safe place then becomes a daily attitude of everyone in the organisation. To foster this attitude you can also create certain practices, such as check-in and check-out, which we discuss in this article.
