The employees engagement in business process improvement activities makes organizations more meritocratic and productive.
Why is employee engagement so important?
Companies that do not involve their employees in innovation activities risk facing three major problems:
- To offer obsolete products and services compared to the competition. The market is constantly changing and it is difficult for administrators to be aware of all new customer needs. For this reason it is essential that all employees have the opportunity to identify and seize new opportunities to improve their company.
- To let the talents escape from their own company that have failed to valorize their potential. People are satisfied with their work when they are able to give their best. Very often this does not happen! Gary Hamel, professor of the London Business School, in the book “the future of management” explains that more than 80% of people do not feel engaged in their work. He defines this phenomenon as “the shame of management”.
- Having a slow and problematic internal organization, far from the real needs of managers. People are not averse to change, they are adversely to change when imposed. It is for this reason that top-down initiatives do not achieve the desired results.
